ESP Data Solutions is committed to delivering accurate, current VIN data across dozens of automotive markets — giving dealers, insurers, fleet managers, and technology partners information they can actually rely on.
Our Story
What started in 1995 as a software company serving car dealerships has grown into one of the automotive industry’s most trusted sources for VIN data. Over the years, we’ve compiled close to a million VIN documents from OEM manufacturers and NHTSA, covering everything from passenger vehicles to trailers. We’ve also built proprietary verification algorithms that catch invalid or malformed VINs before they can cause problems downstream. Today, our database spans more than 5,000 OEM manufacturers and covers vehicles built from 1981 to the present.
Integrity, honesty, accountability, trust, and commitment guide how we operate. We’d rather earn a customer’s satisfaction than just close a sale, which is why we hold ourselves to strict internal quality control standards and ship system updates every week.
In 2003, we launched VinLink™, the first internet-accessible VIN decoder — a product built to meet the market’s demand for detailed, reliable vehicle data, and one that remains central to what we do today.
Our Team
Greg Skoczylas
Greg has been with ESP Data Solutions since 2000, originally joining as Treasurer. He holds a bachelor’s degree in business from Western New England University and a master’s in accounting from the College of Our Lady of the Elms — a background that’s shaped his hands-on approach to running the company’s finances and guiding business strategy. His years of financial and tax leadership, paired with a deep loyalty to the business, eventually led him to the President’s role. Greg focuses on getting customers accurate information quickly, and makes a point of ensuring the people who work for him feel valued and supported.
Outside the office, he’s a dedicated husband and father who likes to travel and play table tennis with family and friends.
Piotr Kałamajski
Piotr built a strong technical foundation early on, earning a master’s degree in computer science from the University of Warsaw in 1984. He joined ESP as a developer in 1998, just as the company was pushing into new technological territory, and went on to help build nearly every product in ESP’s lineup. In 2005, that contribution was formally recognized when he became a partner and shareholder in the company.
When he’s away from the screen, Piotr recharges outdoors — hiking is where he finds perspective and a welcome break from the pace of tech work.
Susan Safford
Sue has kept ESP Data’s administrative operations running smoothly for 19 years, overseeing records, invoicing, and payments with the same reliability she’s known for company-wide. She is also the wife of Jody Safford, one of ESP’s founding leaders. Her long tenure has given her a deep well of customer service experience, and she often credits the company’s collaborative, team-first approach to client relationships as her favorite part of the job.
At home, Sue is all about family time, dancing, and a good adventure — and she’ll tell you that baked stuffed shrimp is hard to beat.
CarolAnn Lovejoy-Jessup
As Director of Business Development, CarolAnn is often the first point of contact for new business at ESP. In her four years with the company, she’s worked closely with the marketing team to uncover new opportunities and build lasting relationships with clients.
Off the clock, she’s likely off-roading in her Jeep or volunteering her time with Tiny Hands, a local nonprofit close to her heart.
Barbara Skoczylas
Barbara joined ESP Data Solutions in 2023 as Treasurer, managing accounts payable and receivable and lending her tax expertise wherever it’s needed. She holds a bachelor’s degree in business from Western New England University and a master’s in accounting from the College of Our Lady of the Elms, and brings 22 years of financial experience to the role, including a long tenure at MassMutual Life Insurance Company. She’s known around the office for always being willing to pitch in on new projects.
Outside of work, family comes first — she’s a devoted wife and mom who spends her free time knitting, crocheting, and walking her dog, Gromit.
Michał Mosiewicz
Michał brings more than 30 years of programming experience to ESP, with a skill set that spans the full technology stack — from his early days working in Java and .NET to a deep, chip-level understanding of computing hardware. That range has let him move fluidly between traditional software projects and newer work in artificial intelligence.
At ESP, Michał builds our web packaging, programs the Java API and web front-ends, and rebuilt our back-end systems from the ground up. He’s currently developing a new server architecture to keep ESP’s technology on the cutting edge.
When he’s off the clock, you’ll find him sailing, windsurfing, skiing, or biking — whatever the wind and snow allow.
Our Origins
ESP Data Solutions traces back to a conversation between Greg Trzaska and Jody Safford in the late 1990s. Both had independently been chasing the same idea — a centralized, reliable source of VIN decoding data — and once they realized they were solving the same problem from different angles, they spent hours mapping out what would eventually become ESP Data Solutions. Greg brought a deep technical understanding of what a decoded VIN could do, while Jody brought the industry relationships that became ESP’s earliest client base. Together they built what has grown into a company offering five distinct VIN solutions, backed by more than 25 years of automotive industry experience. The team at ESP today works to carry that same creativity, tenacity, and pride forward in everything we build.
Greg Trzaska
Greg earned a Master of Science in Engineering from the Warsaw University of Technology in Poland, and brought that problem-solving background to the U.S., where he worked as a senior Project Engineer in aerospace. That experience showed him how much value a clean, reliable source of vehicle data could offer — and gave him the practical foundation to help found and build ESP. Away from work, Greg was most at home in the air; flying and aeronautics were a genuine passion of his, alongside overseas trips to visit family.
Jody Safford
Jody got his start in computer-aided design back in the 1980s, when the technology was still new. He spent time building online catalogs of used vehicles tagged with VIN data, and grew frustrated with how much of that tagging had to be done by hand — a frustration that helped spark the idea for ESP Data. As President, he focused on bringing first-to-market VIN data to life and on building the kind of long-term client relationships ESP still maintains today. Outside of work, Jody enjoyed landscaping, family adventures, and a good round of golf — always playing to win.
The Team Behind the Scenes
Anna Kalamajski
Anna is a database specialist with a Master’s degree from the SGH Warsaw School of Economics. She joined ESP in 2018 and has been a strong contributor to the team ever since.
Outside of work, Anna practices Tai Chi and enjoys creating ceramic mosaics — pursuits that reflect her interest in both wellness and creative expression.
Bartek Włodarski
Bartek is an information technology engineer with more than two decades of experience. He’s been part of ESP since 1999, where his work has been central to building out the company’s data collection process. His deep knowledge of vehicles and VIN structure has made him a go-to expert on the automotive side of the business.
Outside of ESP, Bartek is serious about fitness and bodybuilding, and stays engaged with politics and global affairs in his free time.
Mateusz Balcerzak
Mateusz has a technical background in logistics and has been with ESP since 2006, where he specializes in researching, gathering, and verifying detailed vehicle information. His attention to detail makes him a key part of ESP’s data accuracy.
Away from work, Mateusz keeps Maine Coon cats, dabbles in documentary photography, and follows visual arts and pop culture closely.
Grzegorz Burczyński
Grzegorz has a technical education background and has worked at ESP since 2005, where he handles data mapping across the company’s systems. His careful, detail-oriented approach helps keep ESP’s data accurate and dependable.
Outside of work, he’s an active cyclist and enjoys caravanning — always looking for the next reason to hit the road.
